There’re many times I hear patients saying that they’ll wait until their hair loss are more severe then they’ll get a treatment. Actually, it isn’t a good idea at all. Please keep in mind that the mechanism of medicinal treatments are to prevent hair loss, make hair healthier and increase hair diameter. It is not to increase the number of hair. We cannot change a patient with baldness class 7 (see the picture below) to class 1 with medicinal treatments only. If you ignore hair loss problem until it’s very severe, hair transplant surgeries might be required. However, patients with severe baldness class probablyneeds surgeries for more than 1 session.
Please note that hair transplantations are not to increase the number of hair but the purpose is to move hair follicles from the occipital area to your desired recipient area. Most patients would like to lower the hairline. The larger baldness area is, the more hair follicles needed. If you wait for too late, you might not have enough hair follicles for hair transplantations. So, hair follicles are the most important things to cherish.
