HOW LONG DOES IT TAKES UNTIL THE GRAFT FIRMLY EMBEDDED_1

Although our patients are well informed that the transplanted hair will fall after 2 weeks of the operation, 9 out of 10 are still worried that the hair will not come back. This article has answers for you.

It takes about 2 weeks for a transplanted hair to embed its graft into your scalp. Once settled, the hair will fall, but the follicle is well nested inside the scalp (see illustrations). This is the Dormant Period, which takes about 3-4 months, then the hair will start to grow back.

Providing the patient takes care not to lose the transplanted hair during the first two weeks, it can be assured that the graft is well settled and the hair will eventually grow back up. On contrary, should a patient lose the transplanted hair, by any means, during the two weeks’ period; it means the graft is not settled and that lose hair cannot come back. This is the reason that we always remind our patients that the first two weeks after the operation is very critical and they must be very careful with their hair. The success in Hair transplanting is, therefore, cooperation and co-success between the skill of the doctor and the patients’ awareness and self-caring.
