SHOCK LOSS IS NOT AS TERRIFYING AS YOU THINK
Hair transplant is considered as one of surgeries or simply said it’s a surgical hair transplant procedure. When it’s being called like this, it makes people who are considering getting a hair transplant done, worried whether it is scary or not or will there be any complications or dangerous side effects? I want to say that it’s actually not that scary. Hair transplant is a small surgery so after the hair transplant procedure, you can live a normal life without having to stay in hospital for a long time like other types of surgery.
However, after hair transplantation, some normal symptoms may occur. One common symptom I’ll discuss in this article is “shock loss.” This condition happens when natural hair near the transplanted area (recipient area) and the area at the back of the head where hair grafts are harvested (donor area) falls out after the procedure. Shock loss occurs because the various steps during hair transplantation “shock” the natural hair in these areas, causing it to fall out.
If you’ve read this far, don’t panic because the chance of shock loss is only 5%. And this condition is temporary, after 3-5 months the lost hair will grow back. As for the back area where the hair is taken out, it takes about 6-12 months.
However, there is a chance that shock loss can become a permanent problem as well. For example, in the case of hair loss that is from genetics and may be in the final cycle, so it’s causing the hair loss to not grow again, which is considered a force majeure event.
